Located in Uttara Kannada district of the South Indian state of Karnataka, the Dandeli Wildlife
Sanctuary is rich in diversified flora and fauna.
In the Dandeli forests, you will find valuable trees like teak, rosewood, and several other hardwoods
and evergreens. It is slightly difficult to spots animals because of the thick vegetation, but you might
get to see Malabar giant squirrels and bisons. Elephants, gaur, sloth bear, sambar, wild dogs, wild
boar tigers, langur, and jackals can also be found there.
Along with the nearby Anshi National Park Dandeli was declared as part of the Tiger Reserve. The
government of Karnataka has notified the Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary as an elephant reserve as well.
For bird watchers, this wildlife sanctuary is a paradise as it houses about 200 different species of
Tourist attractions in Dandeli include Kavala Caves, Kulgi Nature Camp, Anshi National Park, Syntheri
Rock, River Kali, ShriMallikarjuna Temple, and Supa dam. If you are an adventure seeker, you can go
on a safari or experience whitewater rafting. Other activities include Rappelling, Coracle Ride,
Birdwatching, Trekking, angling, and caving.
The nearest airport is the Hubli airport which is about 75 kilometres away. The nearest railway
station is Alnavar which is about 32 kilometres away.
